What Makes It UncommonIt’s happened to every bookworm: You curl up with a good novel and the next thing you know, you’re waking up without any idea where you left off. A minor inconvenience, sure, but an easily preventable one. When you feel your eyelids start to droop, slide this bookmark onto the page, pointing directly at the current passage. As for the inscription, well, let’s just say it’s a testament to the relaxing powers of reading.
- The magnetic closure ensures the bookmark stays put and the soft faux-leather shell won’t mark or damage the page.
- Not just for novels, either—it'll keep your place in any volume, like a cookbook or journal.

Jamie Esslinger and Michael Smith are lifelong makers. Mike’s grandfather schooled him in traditional woodworking in his basement shop in Philadelphia. Jaime, a self-taught sewist, absorbs knowledge wherever it can be found. Both believe that working with your hands fulfills a basic human need, and are happiest when they’re covered in paint and sawdust. When they launched their own business, their goal was to leave hectic commutes and cubicles behind, and spend their days doing what they love. Everything they make is the result of hundreds of hours of trial and error, the accumulated knowledge of generations, mistakes, frustration, creativity, and thoughtfulness. They infuse love and care into each item they make, as it is these items that have made it possible for them to live the life they always dreamed of.
